[BACK TO LIST] GRIZZLED SKIPPER Pyrgus malvae
All colonies in Cheshire shown on the1940 to 1994 map are from long ago and have long since died out. The only locality where it has been seen in recent years is the Morecambe Bay limestones (SD47), including Gaitbarrows. It only exists there at very low density (if indeed it survives at all) and there is some doubt as to whether the population there is of natural origin or the result of an introduciton.
